Choral Department Classes
Classes are offered during the school day within the Sebastian River High School Choral Department. Nuovo Voce, Cantiamo, and Chorale classes combine to make up the Sebastian River High School Singing Sharks and perform in several concerts throughout the school year.
Nuovo Voce
This year-long entry-level class, designed for 9th-grade students with little or no choral experience, promotes the enjoyment and appreciation of music through performance of beginning choral repertoire from a variety of times and places. Rehearsals focus on the development of critical listening skills, foundational instrumental technique and skills, music literacy, and ensemble skills. Aesthetic musical awareness culminates in periodic public performances to include performing in the Music Performance Assessments once the criteria is met by the student.
Chorale
This year-long class of students selected by Mr. Stanley, designed to provide 10th-12th-grade students continued vocal production development. It also is designed to further their knowledge of theory, sight-reading and performance skills, promoting the enjoyment and appreciation of music through performance. Rehearsals focus on the development of critical listening skills, foundational instrumental technique and skills, music literacy, and ensemble skills. Aesthetic musical awareness culminates in periodic public performances to include performing in the Music Performance Assessments once the criteria is met by the student.
Guitar
Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced level year-long classes are designed for students who want to learn to play guitar and/or improve their guitar playing skills. The student will study basic technique, reading music and performance.
